Office Removals Require Serious Planning

Posted on 10/12/2013

Office removals are no joke, they are a serious upheaval for your business and will require a great deal of attention to detail in order to go smoothly. This is a much more important move than your house move, as every day lost to the move means money lost for you and your business. Office removals require serious planning from the start to ensure that the whole operation is as efficient as your business is normally, so that you do not lose a penny for wasted time. Here are our tips towards making the move as successful as it needs to be.

Start with the serious planning. Make a list of everything that needs to be done, and how it will be carried out, by whom and when. Be aware of costs rising, and look in to ways in which they can be reduced. Have a couple of people on hand to check over these things so that you do not miss anything. Their help is valuable and can be vitally important to the smooth running of the move. Consider things like refurbishments, furniture being set up and management systems being put in place. What needs to be sorted before the move, and what needs to be going on while the new place is empty? These are all things that can make the process grind to a halt if not dealt with appropriately. When you have your plan sorted out and double checked by everyone who is in charge, make a hard copy, print it out and distribute it to everyone involved in the move. This way you will not be continually being asked for direction, as everything will be down on the itinerary, and hopefully you will have a slightly more peaceful move day!

Make sure that you use a removals service who cater for your needs. Larger office movers will be adept to handling every possible situation and can help with any disasters that will inevitably occur at the last minute. These sorts of firms will be able to provide a full range of services, from packing the whole place up appropriately, to transporting and unpacking everything. This is important as with the sheer volume of things that you will likely need packing up it is unlikely that your staff will be able to help, nor will they be experienced with packing valuable equipment like computers and printers, especially larger items like photocopiers and scanners. Make sure that the packers have the right equipment at all times, like tape, tape dispensers and sack barrows, as this sort of equipment will speed everything up quite drastically and is well worth having in place.

A good bit advice is to have a personal connection with the removals team. If you have their best interests at heart and show it by supplying hots drinks, biscuits, water and snacks, then subconsciously the workforce will repay you in hard work. Do not however, let them think that you are a pushover, as this can lead to a lazy team of workers who will think nothing of slacking off all day, as they do not fear any repercussions from you. The main thing is to be firm, but fair and never lose your head, as a difficult boss is a very unproductive rold to have, and will almost certainly make things difficult and slow for you.

Hopefully this guide will make your move a pleasant, efficient and cost effective process that ups your company’s game! Good Luck!
